A South African Wine & Wildlife Adventure: A Recap

Our recent journey through South Africa was a blend of stunning landscapes, rich history, and unforgettable experiences. Here's a summary of our 13-night adventure:

Cape Town

Cape Town, a city that combines stunning beauty with a vibrant multicultural atmosphere, kicked off our tour. We explored the storied Constantia wine area, the oldest wine-producing region in the southern hemisphere since 1685. Highlights included:

  • Tour of Constantia Valley wineries

  • Cable car ride to Table Mountain

  • Visit to Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

  • Tour to Cape Point to see the Penguins and lunch at Cape Point Vineyards

  • Optional visit to Robben Island

Stellenbosch and Franschhoek

Our next destination was Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second oldest town and a hub for wine, food, art, and culture. Nearby Franschhoek, founded in 1688, is renowned for its wine and world-class restaurants. We enjoyed:

  • Unforgettable cellar door experiences

  • Visits to award-winning wine estates

  • Dinners at celebrated restaurants

  • Optional bike rides through vineyards, hiking, and exploring markets

Hermanus

Nestled between mountains and a spectacular shoreline, Hermanus offered a mix of natural beauty and exciting experiences. We enjoyed:

  • Exploring the diverse Floral Kingdom

  • Walks along pristine beaches

  • Visit to the up-and-coming Walker Bay wine region

  • Seeing penguins at Betty’s Bay

Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Shamwari, a premier safari destination in the Eastern Cape, provided an unforgettable wildlife experience. Home to the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Rhinoceros, Elephant, and African buffalo), we enjoyed:
